Is there any irony in this show being sponsored by Hummer? Or is it just me...

six degrees could change the world.
the people in the show were cutting the flesh of an animal that i could not identify. my concern is the animal being hurt/mutilated. can something be done to save thisthis creatures life?
In additon ,could you please find out what happened to the canines/dogs the traded.

in response to my last comment. i am responded that the creature being mutilateed was possibly a whale or canine/dog. in addition to the dogs being traded. What happened to the dogs they never said.

Has this program created enough FEAR to satisfy your desires? Will you get more funding? This presentation is so skewed toward disaster that it has lost any sense of credibility. I'm all for reducing negative influences on our environment, but give me a break. These worst case scenarios may be accurate on one level, but they will likely NEVER happen again, and often, EX: Hurricane Katrina, have NOTHING to do with global warming. In the most recent hurricane season, despite horrid projections, no major hurricane disaster occured in the USA. The earth's temperature has fluctuated for millineum, it ALWAYS recovers. Your FEAR mongering is pathetic. You count on viewers who are uninformed and lacking enough objectivity to see the truth. "If current trends continue" is such a weak premise. There are no consistent trends on Earth. Climate fluctuation is NORMAL. Again, let's all stop doing tings that negatively effect or world, but let's not get caught up in the FEAR created by your programing.

How on Earth can you advertise for Hummer H3 during a program on global warming???
Posted by Mitch Kirsch | February 10, 2008 9:33 PM
I too was totally offended by the Hummer advertisements - reflecting the epitome of self-indulgent transportation - in a program on how such activities are creating a crisis. Just say no to those ads.

Hummer? You've got to be kidding! This is corporate America at its worse. It makes me wonder how much of what I just watched was legitimate.

Hummer??? Am I really watching Hummer ads during your presentation of this show? Have you totally lost your sense of responsibility? It's offensive and short-sighted, and I expect so much more from National Geographic. Give them their dirty money back and apologize.

Hey, Gwen, Mitch, Bill, MK, Suzanne.
C'mon people get a clue...
This doesn't have anything to do with global warming; but everything to do with the almighty dollar.
All these climatologists, along with NGS, have gathered you all around the camp fire, and now they're telling you the most frightening of monster stories so you'll run to your nearest politician and demand they do something.
Then politicians do what they do best, they start throwing money at the problem.
And there's the climatologists, grabbing the loot and stuffing it into their pockets as fast as they can, until they're ready to tell you the next chapter of their monster story.
Why do you think Al Gore is singing this song?
At best, the man was a mediocre Veep. When he and Bill Clinton left the whitehouse; Al was in danger of fading into obscurity.
But now look at him; an Oscar winner, speaking engagements, book deals, a worldwide concert; money, money, money lining his pockets.
All for perpetuating an unproven theory; and you people... let me re-phrase that... you sheeple are swallowing it hook, line and sinker.
C'mon...
think with your heads, not your emotions.

How about population control? For people...and Hummers!
It is absolutely unbelievable that when exotic ideas, like a million mirrors in the sky, are discusssed, there's little mention of population control. Projections show the world heading to 9 billion people(from 6?? billion now). How have the scientists factored this into their projections?

And then we need to reduce the population of all those methane producing cattle. I'm a long-time vegetarian, having read in 1970's that it took 15 pounds of feed to make a pound of beef. That ratio helps explain the estimated or calculated 200 million metric tons (ca. 2200 pounds) of climate changing gases caused just by cheeseburgers.

Your entire organization should be embarrassed after airing the program “Six Degrees Could Change the World”. The horror visions of a rising sea level, melting pole caps and developing deserts in North America and in Europe are fictitious consequences of fictitious physical mechanisms as they cannot be seen even in the climate model computations. The emergence of hurricanes and tornados cannot be predicted by climate models, because all of these deviations are ruled out. The main strategy of modern CO2-greenhouse gas defenders seems to hide themselves behind more and more pseudo explanations, which are not part of the basic science portion of academic education. Good examples are the radiation transport calculations, which are probably not known by many. Another example is the so-called feedback mechanisms, which are introduced to amplify an effect which is not marginal but does not exist at all. Evidently, the defenders of the CO2-greenhouse thesis refuse to accept any reproducible calculation as an explanation and have resorted to irreproducible ones.
As far as CO2 is concerned, it is not a pollutant. In simple terms, CO2 is an integral component of the survival of plants. No CO2, no plant life. No plant life, no humans. Why has National Geographic made every effort to ignore this basic scientific fact?
Thus, I ask that National Geographic provide the scientifically valid data that proves the causal link between CO2 levels and changes in global average temperatures. And, by proof, I do not mean the output of climate models.
I will be waiting for the National Geographic response to my request...

FINALLY!
On March 3rd at 4 PM EST National Geographic is again airing Day Under Fire: Vietnam War.
It's one of the most compelling stories of a Vietnam War battle that has ever been aired in the US! The recreations are realistic and the interviews are moving.
American TV needs more programming like this!
DON'T MISS IT!

What's happening to your airings of the Dog Whisperer? I'm with you on bringing in new viewers, but if you lose your others from too many repeats what are you gaining and promising new episodes and then stopping that after awhile in favor of more repeats, the same ones I might add, did I miss that memo? If I seem a little perturbed this being my first letter in to NG please forgive me. Its just that I really enjoy the channel now. Cesar's program was the initial draw after I had already missed the first season. Please understand also we pay alot for our cable and internet and when you find a Gem like the National Geographic Channel you don't want to stop watching even on a whim. Whew! Thank You for your time.

I've only seen 1 of the 3 'Day under Fire' series and missed this last Sunday's showing of all 3 !!! Very compelling. When will they be shown again?
