Attention DogTown Fans - More Are on the Way...
January 24, 2008Greg Chapman - Research
To all the Dogtown fans out there don't worry, more shows are on the way and are beginning to film as we speak! We have heard your calls, read your e-mails, and scoured through your letters. New episodes will be coming out later in the year and will be featuring the same heart-warming stories from one of the hardest working animal care centers around.
There will be some surprises that I won't give away just yet, but just know that you won't want to miss a single one. Stay tuned for more updates about the show and you'll be able to catch the replays of the first three episodes sometime in March, (I'll make sure to let you all know when they will air!).
Until then keep on talking to your family and friends about the show and let us know what you think!
Also many of you have asked how you can contribute. Here is the information that may help:

This is the most unique, inspiring, uplifting and motivating program. When I saw it for the first time, I just wanted to quit my job and move to be a part of it all. I was so disappointed to know that it wasn't going to be on tonight, 1/25, but I had TIVO'd the last episode which helped. Pls keep this coming; I've already told someone across the country and will be telling many more to come. Thanks for this quality program, and for also keeping Dog Whisperer alive!!

I'm so relieved to hear this program will continue! It seems everyone I talk to has been watching it and loves it. As a long time admirer of the sanctuary, I can't tell you how happy I am to see it getting this kind of positive exposure. Maybe there is hope for a time when there are no more homeless pets! I too will continue to tell everyone I know to watch for the show. Thank you so much.

I was so bummed when the show was not there tonight !! It has become my only " must see" show of the week. Thanks for illuminating these inspirational people so far and looking forward to the next episodes.

Had to go online and find out why my new Friday night show was not on. Have taped the last shows for my mother since she doesn't get the NGC. Please continue this valuable document of kindness to animals. Best Friends is a truly amazing place.

i hope this show continues. missed it tonight.

I got my family together last night to watch Dogtown in the evening, and it wasn't on. Love this show- hope you can continue to put it on, and add some really important info about making a life-long commitments to your animal, how much is involved in the care of animals, and the expenses. Too many people adopt without realizing the time, expense, and skills needed to be a good pet owner.

Please run Dogtown reruns again- didn't get to TIVO it yet. Thanks!

I can't wait for more Dogtown episodes!!!!

So glad you are continuing Dog Town. My mother and I have been supporting Best Friends for many years. We were so excited about the show but missed the first episode. I tape the show for my mother, who lives in a nursing home, and my daughter, who works nights at a no-kill shelter. Thank you for promoting such a great cause through a wonderful program.

As a pet person and rescue person I simply loved this show. I told my clients and friends about it and was very disappointed finding out it was not on last night.
However, I am now happy to read that the show will come back. Best Friends and other rescue groups show why buying a pet is not the real deal. ;-)

So disappointed there was no "Dogtown" last night and so relieved to learn it will return. It is certainly a winner for NGO and for Best Friends. I'm switching my credit card to a Best Friends VISA so I can help in a little way and I'm sure the program is having a similar effect throughout the country.

I love DogTown, it is inspiring and motivating! As someone involved with dog rescue, I really love and appreciate the fact that they are showing just how wonderful 'second-hand' dogs really are.
Animals are not throw-aways, and it's uplifting to know that there are so many out there trying to make a difference and educate the public.
Go DogTown!

I LOVE DogTown!!! So disappointed it was not on Friday nite (01/25/08). I am a Guardian Angel w/Best Friends & I too sometimes dream of quitting my job & moving to Utah! Get DogTown back ASAP!!

Thank you for this wonderful show! It's interesting to know the dogs' history, progress and the blog updates.
My husband and I volunteered at DogTown last summer. It is as caring, inspiring, dedicated, upbeat and energy-filled as you portray. I encourage all who care about animals to make a donation to Best Friends to support the amazing work they do.

I loved the show and was disappointed not to find it last Friday. It should be required viewing for anyone who has ever abused an animal or anyone who wants to start a puppy mill.
Posted by Nancy | January 27, 2008 7:17 PM
Five more episodes is great news. We'll just have to be patient. Hopefully, there will be even more future episodes. Could someone please post the program credits on the NGC site so the Dog Town production staff will receive some well deserved public recognition for the fine job they did telling the Dog Town story? Dog Town has been a big home run for NGC.

Please keep doing more DogTown episodes. There are so many stories to show. This is an uplifting and always changing show that has the power to help so many animals. As a volunteer at Best Friends, I want the world to see the beauty and kindness that I saw while at Best Friends.

I miss Dogtown and am anxious for the series return. Please don't wait too long! I thought I had taped it on Friday, 1/25, but when I tried to watch it today, it hadn't taped. So I began to research and found your notice. Thank you for updating us.

I am over joyed to hear that there will be more Dog Town. I will be anxiously waiting for the series to return. Best Friends is the one animal sanctuary that I believe in completely. The people that work there are angels, they love their work, and it shows. There is no other like them. Bravo!!

I was really disappointed when my DVR didn't have a new episode for me to watch on Saturday! Please make sure that this series continues. I haven't been so emotionally involved in a program. The people who work at Best Friends are a true inspiration to all animal lovers. God Bless You!

Dogtown was on the schedule for the 18th but it never aired in Florida, or at least in Bradenton, Florida, we only saw the shows on the 4th &
the 11th.
Our family was so impressed with the people, the facility & the whole concept of Dog Town & so crushed that what seemed like an ongoing program was suddenly yanked off the air - obviously there are more episodes - why can't we see them??? Bring Dog Town back, please!!
Posted by Dede Bacro | January 29, 2008 8:23 AM
Hello from NGC! We originally produced 3 episodes of Dogtown -we don't have other episodes finished yet, we haven't cancelled and we haven't yanked off the air. We love the show and its done very well for us and look forward to doing more episodes. We are currently in production and have more episodes that will be ready later in the spring. Thanks for your interest and later this spring, we'll have much more to share. Sorry we all have to wait so long!

Dog Town is such an awesome show. I have been a Best Friends fan for some time and loved seeing their dedicated staff and volunteers in action. Please keep producing these shows.

Thank you for continuing Dogtown. I am amazed at how many people in my circle have fallen in love with the show -even some who I didn't think were hard core animal lovers!
Kudos to National Geographics and to my heroes at Best Friends.

I was so disappointed to not see Dogtown last week. I LOVE this show and have told everyone at work about it. I have turned all of them into Dogtown watchers. Please keep them coming. Wonderful, wonderful place and show!!!!!

I too was so disappointed when I realized Dogtown wasn't on last Friday. I thought it was to be a regular weekly show. I LOVED it. I've contributed to Best Friends for a few years, and it is so encouraging to see their good works in action. They treat these animals with love, and above all respect. Bravo to National Geographic Channel for airing this!

You have started something here you cannot just stop after three shows, you need to keep the public informed and help us all get the word out about places like this an what we can do to help. It opened my eyes and since viewing I have read and learned mor about best friends and donated and sponsored dogs. Please bring the show back and keep it going.Thank You.

I love the show and I cannot wait for it to begin airing again. My dog, Jiminy is a former resident of Dogtown - he likes seeing some of his old buddies and old stomping grounds too!
Keep up the goodness that is BestFriends! I am so happy more is on the way...albeit a bit too far away, but coming nonetheless!

Initially, when Dogtown was announced it was being aired, I took the more expensive plan for my TV just to view Dogtown. You can imagine my disappointment when after only a few segments, it was discontinued.
THANK GOODNESS you will be airing this again as our family makes it a special event for Friday nights.
I enjoy all of your programs, but Dogtown is my favorite.

I am so thrilled this series will continue! The more people who know about the work being done by this great organization, the better. The Dog Town location is just part of an incredibly large animal sanctuary and the sanctuary itself is part of a larger operation many people know very little about. They rescued animals after Katrina and Rita. They went to Beirut to do an animal airlift. They get involved in legal actions across the country to save animals. The potential subjects for future episodes is almost endless. Thanks to Nat Geo for this series and may it continue way beyond its current scope.

Oh, Man, I loved Dogtown!!!
You have to make this a weekly show!
My mom works for Best Friends and she told me to check out the show when it debuted.
The whole family watched all 3 episodes and were riveted!
Great, great show. Bring it back. Bring it back.

THOSE FOLKS THAT WORK THERE ARE VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE AND THANK GOD FOR PEOPLE LIKE THEM. ONE DAY I WOULD LOVE TO VISIT DOG TOWN AND MAYBE DO A SLEEP-OVER. I SURE WOULD LOVE TO WORK IN A PLACE LIKE THAT SO I COULD HELP THE DOGS AND ALL THE ANIMALS AT BEST FRIENDS. I'M GLAD YOUR COMING BACK,AND I'LL BE THERE EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT.

I wait all week to see this show. It makes me laugh AND cry. I have been to Best Friends and seen firsthand the love and care given to these precious animals. Please keep this show on the air. All our children should be exposed to this. Lacking the abiling to visit in person, people can visit the Best Friends website -- it's very informative and entertaining.

Glad to hear the show will continue. I've been checking the schedule and was concerned when I didn't see anymore shows. This should be a weekly show - just like the Dog Whishperer. As a regular contributor to Best Friends Santuary it is really nice to see where the money is going!!

I told everyone I know about this show and suddenly it was gone! I'm so glad it will be back. I'm looking forward to seeing it each week. To all the folks at DogTown/Best Friends: What you do is amazing, inspiring, and heartwarming.....thank you, thank you, thank you. And thanks NGC for bringing us the stories of the wonderful people and animals at Best Friends.

Fantastic! I was bummed when no DogTown last week. It is wonderful exposure for a very hard working organization, Best Friends. Did you know BF rescued dogs and cats from Beirut? helped with Katrina? all the hoarded bunnies in NV? the animal sanctuary in NY? So many stories, big and small. Best Friends makes exceptional efforts to help animals in need. Maybe there can be another show about Best Friends??

We look forward to the next episode of Dog Town. Our daughter adopted her beloved dog Lucy after visiting the sancuary. Now we are able to see the wonderful work done at Best Friends first hand. Please make these reports a permanent part of your programming. Also, we have been great fans of Ceasar Milan for a long time and have learned so much about ourselves through him. Please continue these shows.

I have seen Dog Town twice and was wondering what happened to it. PLEASE bring it back! My Friday nights (really the only night I watch TV) were great with first the Dog Whisperer and then Dog Town. I really liked the show. WHEN is it coming back on?!

Please bring back Dogtown and also replay the original episodes, I missed some of them.
Thanks

I love Dogtown too! Please keep more exciting episodes coming. I know it's only been on three times so far but I think I've already designated it my favorite show. I thought I missed it somehow last week and was very upset about it. When searching this week I had no idea what might have happened! So glad to hear it's coming back. I record them for my Mom to watch while I sit and watch with my boyfriend and the dogs. The boyfriend always wonders why I keep crying?! I guess you could say it's kinda happy and sad all at the same time. I love Best Friends & I love DogTown! Thanks for letting the rest of the world know about the best kept little secret around. Keep up the good work NatGeo! Also love the Dog Whisperer too. It's a whole evening of dogs! You can't get much better than that! Thanks!

I too was disappointed to learn Dogtown wasn't being aired on Friday Night. After finding out more episodes are forth coming I'm over joyed. Never has a show brought me so much sorrow or joy. Thank you GEO for sharing this loving story between man and beast. Hopefully Best Friends goal of there being "No more homeless pets" be realized sooner.

We were told late about the show. But we went ahead and got HDTV just to watch the show. We are involved with Italian Greyhound rescue where we live.
We loved the one show we saw. I hope it will be back on soon.

Dogtown is one of the most wonderful shows ever produced. I loved everything about it. The staff is wonderful and very devoted. The love and care provided for all of the animals is amazing and inspiring. I have told every animal lover I know about it. I am glad that there is a show that advocates for animals and animal rights. I can't wait to see more episodes.

I had just lost my beloved Service Dog of 8 years, to a
brain tumor and bone cancer, when Dogtown aired. He had been a rescue
and was trained and certified; so smart and loving. I wasn't sure if I would
be able to handle watching the program but fell right away. Most especially
when the program that had Bruno, the sweet Chow, was on. I have become a
member of BF and I donate and now sponsor Sahara. No loving creature
should ever be left behind. Keep it coming Nat. Geo. It's a fantastic
program with fantastic guardians.

This show should be on every Friday night as Dog Whisperer is. I heard they took 22 of Michael Vick's pit bulls and will do a show about them. It's wonderful that they are trying to help these poor dogs who were forced into dog fighting. I can't wait to see the show. Hopefully they will prove that some of these dogs can be rehabilitated and put into loving homes.

I was so glad to see that this show was not sweet-as-sugar and unrealistically uplifting -- but at the same time it wasn't a downer either. It was realistic and hopeful. Dogtown provides a model for how we should all treat animals in the world, as our companions on this earth. The fact that these dogs have hope brings me joy every day. I can't WAIT for more episodes, and I've told lots of people to watch! How can I sign up to get e-mail updates?
Posted by Lori B. | February 9, 2008 4:14 PM
To Greg Chapman etc.:
Thank you for your commitment to more episodes of DOGTOWN.
Please, please consider doing something similar for cats. The Dog Whisperer and Dogtown are helping to educate many people who would not otherwise be reached about the responsible care of companion animals. I love dogs and have had dogs in the past, but am currently a cat owner and am amazed that we are still years and years behind in "cat psychology" and cat owner training. Please consider finding a cat whisperer (I know one - no, it's not me) and/or doing some episodes on the Best Friends cats.
Thank you so much, from the two and four leggeds out here in our neck of the woods!
